The kite scene - and I mean just her flying the kite - was one of the saddest scenes I've ever seen in a film. Such a pure, innocent and happy scene, which made it all so sad. Definitely some powerful cinema that I'd not forget for a while.

The AlliumProject albums are the best out of what I've gone through so far, it's progressive electronic with miku vocals.

touhou ufo is "ok" at best, god why are all the new touhou's so shit, also the stage 6 boss doesn't even have a sillly hat, what the fuck zun? no i haven't 1cc'd normal yet, don't think i'll bother either.

touhou 12.3 is awesome, and I've been playing it a fair bit, my remi is starting to get pretty hot now, except /jp/ will lose interest in another 2 weeks and no one will play it again durrrrrrr.

The visuals of these films will never cease to amaze me, the tone, texture and lighting is just GOD TIER - despite them cutting back on frames, which makes moving animation a little less fluid. Unfortunately most of the films are narratively weak (lol nasu), with the exception of film 2. Hopefully part 2 of the second film - also being the conclusion of the series - is a strong one.

Awesome dramatic lighting, they also had dust specks floating around being reflected in the rays of light, so much attention to detail to create very realistic and atmospheric settings. blu-ray release fucking where?

Bakemonogatari - Easily and outstandingly the best show of the season. Admittedly not for everyone, as it's very very SHAFT - Shinbo is not holding back at all for this.
Narrativly it's dialogue upon dialogue - although a lot of the "puns" are based on word play(lost meaning) - what does get successfully translated is quite witty, smart and sometimes geniunely funny.
I was expecting Chiwa Saitos trademark tsundere voice - and was a little disappointed when I first heard it wasn't - but holy shit she does an amazing job in this, she gets it down perfectly, infact I'd go as far as to say her performance in this is making or breaking the show - considering how dialogue heavy it is ...and how much of it is from her character. A very very different Chiwa Saito, but still very awesome.
OPs - They suck, I am disappoint. But considering they are making a new OP per each arc - hopefully at least one will be awesome.
ED - Lazy, crappy some out zoom of an image(an awesome image) for first 3 eps. 4th ep seems to be the real one, it's decent. The song itself is pretty catchy, and is actually done by the miku hatsune group supercell with vocals by Gazelle (credited as nagi), her voice is awesome tbh, especially for a non-professional - here are a few of her vocaloid covers: Melt, World is Mine.

CANAAN - It's sugoi, with lots of sugoi for sugois, right? No not really, pretty generic crap so far, but the Type-Moon designs help - Canaan herself kind of looks like a mix of arc, shiki and seiba.

And the only other thing I've picked up so far is spicy wolf 2 which is uneventful enough for me to not care about writing up a review for.
Meanwhile, 3 shows? Some kind of record low? Sugoi monogatari bakemono.

Endless Eight was organized to be produced as 6 episodes.
Kadokawa's back sponsor got furious and by the time it was too late, the producer had been fired.
There was huge confusion over whether they were going to skip the produced 4th and 5th episodes and skip to airing the 6th.

By the way, the 6 ep organization was Kadokawa's instructions.
The fired producer was a scape goat to appease the angry back sponsors.
Kadokawa's ultimate goal was to blow smoke over the fans by having 12 episodes that would consist of E8, Sigh, and a new Mikuru's adventure.
And the disappearance images they had pulled from would remain exactly that... (Unsure)
Currently Kadokawa does not feel like animating Disappearance

This gives the feeling that the purpose of this new production is simply to pull money from the fans (Extreme paraphrase)

But honestly, rumour doesn't look very credible, how could they possibly think they would be MAKING MONEY from trolling with this many EE episodes, I mean you'd have to be fucking retarded to not realise the reaction it would generate and it just doesn't make sense if they didn't actually plan for such a reaction. Chances are "real" episodes will pop up on the DVDs, or a "real" season will be announced after this endless trolling (H O P E FULLY). At least now we know the reason why they refused to officially announce season 2, will be interesting to see what's in store/how they dig themselves out of this one.

I don't think I have seen the clean(creditless) OP's with the background text translated and typeset in english, I'm assuming these are ripped from the R1 dvd's (I actually do own a volume but I'm too lazy to check). They are CLEAN and look totally awesome in youtubes crappy "HD", the colours are very crisp, although the audio has some syncing issues.
This is PPD! OP3, and was probably my least favourite of the 3, but this is actually way way stronger with the text included - not because they are "lol random" or "DEEP", more because the backgrounds were obviously intended to be accomplined by the text and without it, becomes boring with nothing to focus attention on(which is why I previously didn't like OP3 that much).

Osaka for ease of daytrips to Kyoto/Nara and surrounding areas. Will probably spend at least 1 weekend back in Tokyo though, since a friend that I'm going with hasn't been - and not to mention I love love Tokyo. Then ferry from Shimonoseki to Korea, probably a week in Seoul.

alot more traveling around this time, as opposed to being mostly static in Tokyo city last time. not sure what day trips I'm doing yet with the 1 week railpass apart from Tokyo and Hiroshima/Miyajima(on route to Shimonoseki).

Also I picked up the lonely planet book for Tokyo last time(which was pretty good) but not sure if I can be bothered getting one for both Osaka and Seoul.

I missed this, but the profile for Takemoto Yasuhiro in Newtype says that he’s the brigade leader assistant for “Suzumiya Haruhi no yuutsu” that is starting in April and that he’s involved with being the director for the anime.

Brigate leader assistant is his job title for the 2nd season, he only worked on one episode in the 1st season and wasn’t the director.

The J-cast article that originally clearly stated that Kadokawa said it’s a repeat telecast has been edited and now uses the same ambiguous words like in Newtype and no longer clearly says that it’s a repeat."

delayed review, but I'm BORED so I might aswell.

Honestly thought it was a pretty average beginning - this is comparing it to AQUA( ARIA's beginning) which actually had some kind of plot introduction and alot more character introduction. It was presented with too little "new" information, kind of felt like a half chapter, hopefully things pick up a bit the next few chapters. Art was as gorgeous as ever, except the alternative "cute" faces are not so cute anymore, and more "scary".

Anyway, through the magic of google here's a blog with some actual useful information, seems like the manga is based in the Shizuoka prefecture (compared backgrounds to pictures). I kind of hoped it was on AQUA again, since there was a martian looking cat in a few panels - would of allowed for some future crossover/cameo appearances ;_:

So I've been slowly savoring/saving ARIA for the last few months, and couldn't help myself the last few days and finished The Origination.

ARIA is a pretty hit or miss show, you will either find it very boring or you will LOVE IT. Actually fuck that, this is my blog so if you disagree with my opinion then you're wrong and stupid, basically if you find ARIA boring you have ADHD and should stick to code shit.

since there was 3 seasons, I'll have to separately rate them. I didn't enjoy the first one(The Animation) as much as the rest, since I was still adjusting into ARIA I guess, and i'd give it a 8/10, i got into season 2(The Natural) alot more, really warmed up to all the characters, a 9/10.

season 3(The Origination) was a really amazing and fitting way to end such a great show, they upped the animation quality by alot - to the OVA standards - every single frame was pretty as shit. also included some of the single best episodes in the series, and of course the 'all good things must come to an end' ;_; finale.
improving on what there was to improve on from season 2 - blowing my expectations away, nothing for me to complain about. i don't give 10s easily but this was an easy decision. 10/10.

the drawing contest at the end was the best - where yunos VA is against SHAFTs lead character designer - last picture she was like "what do you think!?" and the guy just couldnt help himself and cracks up in her face while giving her a "its fantastic" ROFL

the quality of translations IS a big difference when you watch a show and there's some good examples there, in most cases its always worth waiting the extra day or two for quality subs as opposed to shitty speedsubs.

saimoe is now in it's juicy stages, with only a few matches left in the round of 32. looking back on my initial predictions - apart from fuckhead fuko winning her group and yuno losing to kana - didn't do too bad.

at this point, i think a clannad character will take it this year, but they need to sacrifice two in the next round - definitely fuko retard and either kyou or nagisa. tomoyo probably has the best chance overall.

Akari should make the top16 pretty easy, which is awesome - however gets a pretty raped group finals with nagi/tsukasa. needs tsukasa to win that, then needs kagami in the next round to beat kyou to have a small chance to make it to the 8. POLITICS POLITICS, SAIMOE IS SERIOUS BUSINESS

OP sounds too much like the first seasons, and visually (like the first seasons) I didn't really like it. I know SHAFT can do better than that.

scenes which i loved:

step/black screen/zoom in x3. really simple, really effective.

once again not very complex but the composition is fucking great. both those frames are pretty as shit aswell as being narratively informative.

birds eye view, black bar scroll out - with it timed to a character speaking. great idea but the scene itself was pretty boring, so didn't make it stand out as much

it's the small things like these which makes ef(SHAFT) stand out.

Casshern sins - this looks very promising. great visuals - love the style, not as obscure as the last madhouse project I watched(kaiba) but definitely different. will need a few more episodes to see where the story is going but I'm pretty sure I'm going to follow this.

Kannagi - so I hear it's a dancing animu... another show with great animation, this time in smoothness and fluidity/movement, very comparable to kyoani(might have something to do with a chunk of the staff list being ex-kyoani). pretty generic overdone "boy has strange girl living in his house" story, but the whole show is quality enough for me to pick it up. oh and the main heroine's VA is GOOD.

Hyakko - kind of like a tuned up hidamari sketch, altho i'm not sure if I like it enough to follow just yet, will give it 2 more eps.

Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka - I'm going to drop this show the next time aya hirano has more than 2 sentences, her voice in this is FUCKING ANNOYING. this show is horribly average and the only reason it's getting any attention at all (DEAR GOD WHY IS ECLIPSE SUBBING THIS SHIT?) is because the cast list is well... ridiculously too good for this shitty piece of shit. aya hirano, rei kugimiya, rie tanaka, marina innoue, etc etc. although its slightly interesting to see teh rei able to do a non-tsundere role for once. I'll give it 2 more episodes at best.

the best show that no one knows about. pitty it's only 1 short 15minute OVA every 2 months.
story has been done a few times before, the line between android/humans, touching on discrimination and social boundaries. but it's very subtle in a slice of life kind of way, great direction, great animation, watch it.

ok admittedly haven't really been paying too much attention, only voted once so far in round 1 (for ara ara~ ufufu, who lost to louise ;_;), and will throw in a vote for akari next week.
looking at the results chart, nothing too surprising - although hiromi did nearly beat nanoha. the only 1k+ so far has been poor fucking maria who got the round 1 shaft again.

despite not sitting there f5ing all day as much as i used to this time last year, alot less shit storming and saimoe threads around, PROBABLY BECAUSE I CANT SEE THEM THROUGH ALL THE STRIKE WITCHES AND CODE SHIT THREADS. not saying saimoe threads are much better, but you know - some cancers aren't as bad as the others
